Day 1: So It Begins

Excuse the mess. Bedroom under construction. Painting going on in the closet.

Excuse the mess. Bedroom under construction. Painting going on in the closet.

Hello there, friend!

Yesterday was not like most Sundays.  I woke up early, dressed, and headed to my house to start the painting I didn’t finish the day before.  Typically, church is where I’m headed on Sunday, but this month my family and I decided to take each Sunday to rest.  Well, instead of resting, I spent the Sundays laboring in my house.  Finishing the rooms in my house that were not renovated by the Home Town team has become a burdening pain that I can’t easily sidestep.  It’s like the projects never end!  Even the simplest tasks, like painting, is not a snap of the fingers.

Painting the walls and trim in closets was today’s task, and from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. I was tucked away in the closets at the top of a ladder painting.  Unfortunately, I did not finish.  But, while I was breathing in those primer and paint fumes, I thought about the month that’s approaching.  October takes us into the fourth quarter when the end of the year countdown begins.  I’m not ready to end the year because there is much to be done and goals to be accomplished.

The challenge to end the year stronger than I began is on!

I have set 4 pillars of focus for a healthy life: spiritual, physical, financial, and emotional. These I’ll dive into another day.

I’m making commitments that start now. Let’s do these 90 days together. What do you say? Yes??! Think about 5 actionable goals to accomplish each day for the next 90 days. What are 5 consistent decisions you can make each day that will change your life going into the new year?

Until tomorrow.

How My Confidence Moved Me To Japan

Several years ago, when I was preparing to move out of the country, I felt like I was ready to conquer the world. I believed I had what it took to leave my family and move to Japan—alone. Just before embarking on my new journey, fear gripped me and I started questioning if I was making the right decision.

Negative thoughts had taken over my excitement and eagerness to serve in the capacity God called me to. My mind was filled with cloudy disbelief, and I was no longer confident enough to get on the plane for a 22-hour flight. The opportunity I had been waiting for was right in front of me, but I was fearful and hesitant to take the step.

I mustered up enough energy and gumption to just go for it! Japan was waiting for me, and I had to get there.

I stepped on the plane to start the journey, and my life has not been the same since.

This new opportunity birthed from me who I had always known I was. I grew in ways unimaginable. Ways that I could only experience because I made a choice to operate in confidence.

The little pieces of Japan scattered throughout my home remind me to not be bound by fear because fear keeps you in one place.

Fear limits your ability to grow.

Fear causes you to miss opportunities, and it takes away your chances to make a difference.

Fear keeps you from truly pursuing who God called you to be.

What are you believing about yourself? What positive seeds have you planted in your life, and how often are you nurturing those seeds?

I encourage every person I work with to speak life into themselves each day.
Make these affirmations part of your daily routine:
✔️ I have unlimited potential.
✔️ All answers lie within me.
✔️ Anything is possible to do and achieve.
✔️ I can do and be anything I choose.
✔️ My life is changing, and I’m responsible for the change.

What are some affirmations that you would add to your personal list?

What is Confidence?

Ever get that feeling that things are just going too well in your life? You wake up knowing that the day is going to be great. You have that, “God hasn’t given me a spirit of fear attitude.”

What you’re experiencing is a mind shift. You’ve consciously (or subconsciously) decided to be the person God designed you to be—one who was created to walk in glory. This feeling is what I call confidence. We all have it. Some of us use it well, while others of us are still trying to figure out what it is and how to get it.

Confidence is merely a state of mind that we establish for ourselves. It’s so much more than believing in yourself and your abilities. It’s knowing who you are, whose you are, and owning it.

Confidence is being brave enough to allow yourself to be free. Freeing yourself from doubt, unbelief, or fear of failure creates a path for you to truly walk with your head high.
